We will have a joint game night with OWL on December 1st from 6-8 PM. We have 1313 booked and we will have board games, Just Dance, and more! If any board members have games to bring, please do so!

We currently have $1959.56 in the OU SCAN bank account. This is after the funds for the Hurricane Relief Fundraiser has been taken out. We got roughly $200 from our Panda Express fundraiser which hasn’t been deposited yet.

We got more than 400 items from our food drive! We are still waiting on our money from Pinkberry. Little event was a huge success and we had tons of people at the National Weather Festival.

The 103rd AMS Annual conference will be January 8th-12th 2022 in Denver Colorado! The local chapter officers’ breakfast will be Tuesday, January, 10 from 7-8:30 AM.

We have a few possible service opportunities coming up. We could do Toys for Tots hopefully starting at the end of this week. We could also do an Adopt-a-Family with Urban League OKC which would take place though the month of December which is a difficult timeline for us since people will be going home for Christmas.

Dr. Sakaeda was our October speaker. Her research focuses on Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) , diurnal cycle of rainfall and clouds, tropical-extratropical interactions, etc. Diagrams about the MJO were shown and discussed by the speaker and SCAN members. She more specifically focuses on the issues with modeling the tropics. She talked about her career path. Her job duties include teaching, researching and service. She also talked about the different sectors of meteorology and options available for students after graduating from OU.
