The Little Event is this Saturday, October 22nd, from 9am-12pm. A discord group will be made in the coming days to coordinate for our jobsite in OKC. Bring clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
The Hurricane Fundraiser is going well! We have raised over $1500 and are over halfway to beating last year’s total.

The October Social event will be a movie night next Tuesday night in the NWC. The members voted on the movie using the provided QR code. The National Weather Festival will be on Saturday, October 29th from 10am to 2pm. We will be selling t-shirts and stickers. The Weather Friends will also be there!
Emily Lenhardt, from SAC, gave an announcement about Multicultural Fest in January. It will be the first one since January 2020. SAC is looking for multicultural groups on campus and they should email her or Bryony if they are interested in participating in the Multicultural Fest.

Dr. Sakaeda was our October speaker. Her research focuses on Madden-Julian Oscillation (MJO) , diurnal cycle of rainfall and clouds, tropical-extratropical interactions, etc. Diagrams about the MJO were shown and discussed by the speaker and SCAN members. She more specifically focuses on the issues with modeling the tropics. She talked about her career path. Her job duties include teaching, researching and service. She also talked about the different sectors of meteorology and options available for students after graduating from OU.
