WHO CAN JOIN?
Anyone & everyone. You do not have to even be a Meteorology major! No matter what year you are in, if you are interested in weather, climate, or atmospheric sciences, come see us at a General Meeting or Social Event!
WHY SHOULD I JOIN?
1. At our monthly meetings, you will have the chance to hear from someone within the meteorological community, learn about how they navigated their undergraduate/graduate studies, and their current career path. Afterwards, you have the opportunity to go up, introduce yourself, and ask questions!
2. You can help to promote public awareness regarding severe weather by joining the OU SCAN Outreach Committee and the Weather Friends. These students give presentations at local elementary schools, as well as attend public weather awareness events in the community. Did we mention that they dress as superheroes? Click on the Weather Friends tab to read more!
3. Members are given opportunities to participate in community service by volunteering at events such as National Weather Festival (F), OU’s Little & Big Event (F, S, respectively), Food Drives for the OU Food Pantry, & many more!
4. There are monthly social events held for the sole purpose of getting members together to spend time with one another, take a break from homework, and just have fun. What better way to get to know your peers?
